Surgical Technologist Cardiac and Vascular

Full Time position working in the Main OR at Northwest Medical Center supporting the Cardiac & Vascular team ( Heart Team )
40 hours weekly call working 10 hour day shifts
The Cardiovascular Surgical Tech in the Operating Room at Northwest Medical Center, assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed and assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating theater.
Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment. Assists with opening of sterile supplies, sets up for procedures and maintains an orderly surgical field. Adequately prepares for procedures/surgeries and anticipates physician's needs during procedures/surgeries. Accepts and properly identifies any medication or solution onto sterile field. Handles specimens/cultures according to policy. Performs sponge, instrument and sharps counts according to policy. Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment, instruments and supplies and returns all to proper locations. Performs other job duties relevant to the position as assigned.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Successful completion of an accredited (CAAHEP, ABHES, etc.) Surgical Technologist program
Education required to obtain certification as a Surgical Tech as defined by NBSTSA or NCCT (i.e., two years of on-the-job training or seven years of experience working in the field)
Military OR training program with two (2) years surgical tech experience required.
"Required for Cardiovascular Surgical Tech: Two (2) years previous experience in vascular, cardiac and thoracic cases.
Preferred for Surgical Tech: Previous experience as a Surgical Technician."
Required: American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
