Full Time Surgical First Assist 40 hours weekly call at Northwest Medical Center,
$15,000 Sign on Bonus for qualified Surgical First Assists!!!
$10,000 for Student Loan Repayments
As a First Assist at Northwest Medical Center, you'll play a vital role in doing what you do best- providing quality care to our patients. Requirements:
- Completion of accredited Surgical Technician program
-OR- 2 years of on-the-job training
-OR- 7 years of experience working in the field
-OR- Military training program with 2 years surgical tech experience
- BLS Required.
- Graduate The American Board of Surgical Assistants with a Certification as a Surgical First Assist required.
- At least two years experience is required.
About the Job:
- The Surgical FA in the Operating Room at Northwest Medical Center, assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed and assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating theater.
- Assists in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
- Assists with opening of sterile supplies, sets up for procedures and maintains an orderly surgical field.
- Adequately prepares for procedures/surgeries and anticipates physician's needs during procedures/surgeries.
- Accepts and properly identifies any medication or solution onto sterile field.
- Handles specimens/cultures according to policy and performs sponge, instrument and sharps counts according to policy.
- Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment, instruments and supplies and returns all to proper locations.
Credentialing requirements as part of Medical Staff Services application -
Must be able to provide documentation of 100 cases / case logs as a first assistant in the past 2 years
Must be able to provide NPI # and current references
Must maintain competency through continuing education as required by the certifying agency
