Supervisor of Safety and Security
Job Description
This is a full time position working at Oro Valley Hospital.
Summary:
The Security Supervisor is responsible for supervising, assigning, and evaluating the activities of security officers across the health care system. A supervisor manages and trains security officers who patrol and respond to security incidents. The supervisor regularly communicates with the department Director and provides coordination with law enforcement officers and fire department officials as necessary. Supervisors have frequent interactions with patients, visitors, volunteers, and staff. Supervisors ensure security officers complete incident reports as needed.
Supervises and oversees the day to day operations of the Security Department. Oversees security of patients, employees and visitors; protects campus buildings, assets and premises. Responsible to Manager for all shift lead responsibilities.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Education:
High School diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
Previous supervisory experience in criminal justice, law enforcement or security related field. Two (2) years’ experience in related safety/security field, computer literate. Working knowledge of OSHA, JCAHO, AND NFPA Laws, standards and regulations required.
Skills:
Computer literate on Word processor. Sound leadership and decisiveness to promote the mission of the department during times of stress. Bicycle rider (Bike Patrol), handcuffing, collapsible baton (ASP or PR24), interrogation & interview, report writing, radio communications, interpersonal people skills and safe driver. Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written.
Licenses/Certifications:
Required: American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), valid Driver's License, Member in good standing with I.A.H.S.S. (International Association of Hospital Security and Safety organization).

***Intervention/De-escalation Training Certification within one (1) month of hire
Preferred: Arizona Department of Public Safety Guard Card
