Job Description

The Medical Lab Tech / Medical Lab Scientist needed for a clinical laboratory supervisor position (CLIA qualified) at Oro Valley Hospital. The supervisor will oversee all areas of the clinical laboratory with the exception of Blood Bank.

 

Summary:

Provides day to day technical supervision of a specialty of service in which the laboratory performs testing or procedures. Accessible to testing personnel for resolution of technical problems in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the Laboratory Director or Medical Director.

 

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:

Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited program;
Or Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry, biology, or microbiology with 2 years of full time clinical laboratory experience;
Or if prior to 2/28/1992 - Associates of Science degree in Medical Laboratory;
Or Equivalent military training and 2 years of full time laboratory experience."

Experience:

Required: Four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience in high complexity testing with a sound working knowledge of the area of supervision.

Skills:

Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means. Excellent skills in customer relations and employee supervision. Demonstrates the constant ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload. Ability to respond to multiple situations and questions that require sound judgments and action for quality patient care.

Licenses/Certifications:

Preferred: Certifications: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or American Medical Technologists (AMT); or American Association of Bio-analysts (AAB).
