Job Description

Seeking a  Scheduling Clerk for Medical Imaging -  PRN - day shift- to join our team at Northwest Medical Center. Our focus is on high quality patient care through patient assessment, critical thinking skills, time management and teamwork.


Summary: Performs scheduling of complex imaging procedures and verification of insurance eligibility and benefits. Determines medical necessity of scheduled procedures. Works in conjunction with patient access staff to assist in upfront collections.  Assists referring physicians' office staff with patient scheduling for complex diagnostic imaging procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations, and determining patient financial liability. Provide patients and offices accurate instructions regarding the scheduled procedure (i.e., NPO, arrival time, where to arrive, etc.) Determines medical necessity of all scheduled Medicare procedures. Schedules complex imaging procedures and arranges for required services as needed.  Provides patient instruction to ensure preparedness for procedures.  Coordinates schedules with other patient examinations, reminds patients dates of the procedures. Establishes and maintains relationships with office staff and/or schedulers of physicians' offices, keeping them informed on new programs, scheduling availability and upcoming activities.  Interacts with technologists and Radiologists to determine specific procedure matches the physician's order and to ensure that all necessary components for a successful and accurate imaging procedure are in place prior to patient arrival, i.e. Lab results, Order, proper authorization for procedure, etc....
