RN First Assist

Full Time, Monday through Friday Days

$10,000 for Student Loan Repayments

As an RNFA at Oro Valley Hospital, you'll play a vital role in doing what you do best- providing quality care to our patients. Requirements:

  • Completion of accredited Surgical Technician program
    -OR-  2 years of on-the-job training
    -OR-  7 years of experience working in the field
    -OR-  Military training program with 2 years surgical tech experience
  • For RNFA: current Arizona RN license or compact state license
  • For all First Assists: American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS
  • ACLS Preferred.
  • PALS Preferred.
  • Graduate The American Board of Surgical Assistants with a Certification as a Surgical First Assist required.

About the Job:

  • The RNFA Surgical Tech in the Operating Room at Northwest Medical Center, assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed and assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating theater.
  • Assists in preparing rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with opening of sterile supplies, sets up for procedures and maintains an orderly surgical field.
  • Adequately prepares for procedures/surgeries and anticipates physician's needs during procedures/surgeries.
  • Accepts and properly identifies any medication or solution onto sterile field.
  • Handles specimens/cultures according to policy and performs sponge, instrument and sharps counts according to policy.
  • Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment, instruments and supplies and returns all to proper locations.
