Job Description

Evaluates perioperative patients and plans, implements and documents surgical nursing care. Performs surgical procedures under supervision of a surgeon. Functions in a scrub and circulating nurse role. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires an associate's degree, certification as a registered nurse first assistant (CRNFA), certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR), and at least 2 years of operating room experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

Position is Full Time working at Northwest Medical Center in the Main OR

 

Ability to perform all surgical skills required to assist Surgeon with procedures. Appropriate prioritization and planning skills, while achieving safety and quality in a high volume environment; Engaging and effective communication and service skills; Adherence to policy and procedures; Process improvement oriented; Self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed.

 

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to perform all surgical skills required to assist Surgeon with procedures. Appropriate prioritization and planning skills, while achieving safety and quality in a high volume environment; Engaging and effective communication and service skills; Adherence to policy and procedures; Process improvement oriented; Self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed.
  • Required:

    For Surgical First Assistant: CSA through NSAA -OR- CFA through NBSTSA -OR- SA-C through ABSA
    For RNFA: current Arizona RN license or compact state license
    For all First Assists: American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS
    For OVH RNFA: American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) ACLS

    Preferred: Where not required, American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) ACLS is preferred.

The Main OR at Northwest Medical Center features 16 surgical suites in a dedicated surgical wing and perform highly specialized  cutting edge procedures AND minimally invasive procedures.
