Physical Therapy Assistant
Job Description
This is a full time position working in the Inpatient department at Oro Valley Hospital.
Summary:
Assists a Physical Therapist with a patient's rehabilitative activities to help reduce pain and improve mobility. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A limited degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a physical therapist. Associate's degree from an accredited program and licensure as a physical therapist assistant, bachelors degree preferred. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
PTA will be trained to work in the skilled nursing unit (SNU) and the acute care areas. They will primarily be working in the SNU but rotate in both areas as needed. There also may be opportunities to work in our rehabilitation center.
Position Purpose:
Under supervision of the Physical Therapist, performs treatments and provides exercise instruction and demonstration for patients.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Education:
Required: Associate's Degree Program from an accredited school.
Experience:
Preferred: One (1) year experience assisting Physical Therapist
Skills:
Appropriate prioritization and planning skills, while achieving safety and quality in a high volume environment; Engaging and effective communication and service skills; Adherence to policy and procedures; Process improvement oriented; Self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Current Arizona Physical Therapy Assistant Certification.
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) BLS Certification.
Skilled Nursing Unit: Fingerprint Clearance Card
