Job Description

 

This is a Full time varied shift position working in the Pharmacy at Oro Valley Hospital.

Position Purpose
To provide pharmaceutical care to patients according to professional standards and practices. This position will always include providing drug therapy oversight for ED and critical care patients. Interprets and clarifies all types of medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dose, frequently, route, allergy to, interaction with or duplication of existing drug therapy. Obtains and documents patient information such as allergies, diagnosis, height and weight, pregnancy, etc. Processes orders and dispenses medications accurately and timely using patient specific information. This includes compounding, overseeing technician compounding, packaging and labeling of pharmaceuticals. Monitors drug therapy information and documents clinical interventions as appropriate; prepares required reports for quality, cost and/or safety initiatives. (i.e reporting an ADR through ERS, documenting in Sentri7).


Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Education: Required: Bachelor's Degree via completion of 5 Year program from accredited school of pharmacy.
Experience: "Required: Completion of internship.
Preferred: Acute hospital in-patient experience. A PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is preferred.
Skills: Appropriate prioritization and planning skills, while achieving safety and quality in a high volume environment; Engaging and effective communication and service skills; Adherence to policy and procedures; Process improvement oriented; Self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed.


Licenses/Certifications: Required: Current licensure as a Pharmacist in Arizona. American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross(ARC) or American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) BLS upon hire and AHA ACLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
