The Patient Care Tech in GI Lab provides basic nursing care prior to and post Endoscopic / GI procedures to patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists with personal hygiene, takes signs and changes bed linens. Transport patients to and from GI department.
Assists patients via wheel chair to their vehicles post procedure.
Cleans, sterilizes, stores and prepares other supplies. Works under immediate supervision.
1 year of prior Hospital experience highly preferred.
Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
High School or equivalent required.
Post High School vocational / specialized training preferred.
One (1) year experience in hospital or nursing home highly preferred.
Required: "BLS certification" American Heart Association
Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Assists patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, or eating. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens or gathers vital signs but does not start or administer intravenous fluids. Aids physicians and nursing staff members with procedures if needed. Documents patient interactions as needed. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. High school diploma or equivalent. No experience necessary.
