Job Description

As an organization leader, this position shares accountability for facilitating organizational and department goals using effective leadership knowledge, skills and abilities that ensure achievement of expected results for patient/customer service, employee engagement, financial health, business growth and quality and safety outcomes.

Directs and oversees all policies and procedures related to healthcare information management. Responsible for ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the medical records and transcription departments. Reviews processes and identifies areas for improvement taking into account user needs. May act as liaison between information services and technology department, ensuring that systems are accessible and in accordance with the needs of the organization. Ensures that all record keeping and information disbursement complies with HIPAA regulations. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. 

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in the area of specialty, business management or closely related field or Associate's degree with five plus (5 ) years experience in related position in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Master's degree.

Experience

Preferred: Ten (10) years or more of supervisory/management responsibilities.

License/Certifications

Required: As required by profession, RHIA or RHIT.
