Job Description

This is a full time General Maintenance Mechanic position working at Northwest Medical Center.

This mechanic would perform our Life Safety compliance. Their responsibility would be to inspect rated doors and barriers, perform above ceiling inspections and other compliance related tasks. This mechanic would also assist another General Maintenance Mechanic on the shift, as needed. This mechanic will be the first responder for all Plant Operations calls during second shift when working alone. Experience in a healthcare setting is a plus. Note – this job will include a lot of walking and climbing ladders for inspection purposes.

Work hours are Sunday – Thursday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm. On occasion, hours may flex as projects and emergencies dictate. This position would also be part of the rotating on-call roster.

Performs a variety of general maintenance, repair, overhaul, duties in all hospital buildings. Assembles  furniture such as cabinets, chairs, storage fixtures and office equipment. Repairs sinks, showers, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures. Ensures proper safety procedures are observed. Demonstrates proficiency in department specific computer software and technology including pneumatic system, phones, nurse call. Responds to requests from patient care areas in regards plumbing, HVAC , electrical or other issues. First responder for all Plant Operations during second shift and calls in appropriate staff for emergent repairs. Performs regulatory inspections on items such as fire extinguishers. Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements                                                                


High School diploma/GED preferred or equivalent experience required.        


Five (5) years building maintenance of structures.                                


Building construction and maintenance. Read blueprints and diagrams.                



Valid Driver's License.
