Job Description

Summary:

Supervises department operations during assigned shift. Interprets policies, procedures, standards and regulations as appropriate to department and medical staff. Performs duties of central sterilization technician when necessary. Sterilizes, cleans, wraps, stores and distributes supplies, instruments, and equipment used in patient care. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of related experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.

 

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:

Required: High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience required.
Preferred: Post High School Vocational/Specialized training

Experience:

Preferred: 2 years Central Sterilization experience; Supervisory/lead experience

Skills:

Ability to provide daily operational leadership to small teams. Appropriate prioritization while achieving safety and quality in a high volume environment; Engaging and effective communication and service skills; Adherence to policy and procedures; Process improvement oriented; Self-initiative to assist with whatever is needed.

Licenses/Certifications:

None required.
