Job Description

A per diem (as needed) Lab Aide is needed for weekend night shift at Northwest Medical Center to receive patient samples, empty the pneumatic tube system, answer the phones and provide support for the phlebotomy staff and technical team; no blood drawing required.

 

Summary:

Performs procedures for culturing and preparation for microbiology testing. Collects and labels all specimens requiring testing in the clinical laboratory. Performs order entry of tests as necessary. Ensures that specimens are routed to appropriate areas for testing. Assists technologist in performance of laboratory work and customers with information regarding laboratory testing.

Duties to include receipt of patient samples in the lab computer system, emptying the pneumatic tube system, answering laboratory phones to answer questions and provide customer service, other assignments to provide support for the phlebotomy staff and technical team...no blood drawing required. Looking for a dependable team player who is willing to learn. Computer literacy is needed. Prior experience is a plus but will train the right candidate on the job. Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:

Required: High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience

Experience:

Required: One year previous phlebotomy experience in a health care setting OR student externship at a Northwest Healthcare lab

Skills:

Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means. Phlebotomy, medical terminology, computer experience, and excellent service skills. Demonstrates the constant ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload.
