Job Description

This is a full time opportunity for a histology tech in a busy hospital environment at Northwest Medical Cneter. Use state of the art equipment to provide diagnostic materials for the pathology department. This is a great teamwork environment with plenty of variety to use and improve your skills.

Job Summary: Prepares and stains specimens of human body tissue so all structure detail or substance will be visible for evaluation by Pathologist, under general supervisions and according to established policies, procedures and standards. Prepares solutions, performs special mountings and stains and performs related service duties. Cuts, stains, mounts, and studies specimens of human tissue to provide data on functioning of tissues and organs, causes and/or progress of disease, following established standards and practices.  Assists customers with information regarding laboratory testing in a pleasant and professional manner. Performs specimen triage handling procedures, and assists with gross room examinations when necessary. Performs and understands immunhistochemistry (IHC) and special stain techniques, and prepares all associated reagents/solutions. Performs and understands both routine and cytologic preparation and staining procedures. Performs standard tissue embedding and microtomy techniques. Performs clerical and billing functions within the Pathology Department.
