This position is PRN Day shift scheduled in the Main OR working with our talented Cardiovascular Surgeons and takes call for emergency cases 

Northwest Medical Center has a robust cardiac and vascular surgical service line and we are looking for the best to join our team and take the best care of our patients. 

The Cardiac and Vascular Surgical First Assist for the Main OR functions as a First Assistant, has received special Cardiac training or as an additional assistant to the surgeon, works within scope of practice and may provide scrub services in the operating room during surgical procedures and assists surgical team, as needed, in any other capacity.

 

Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements        

Education Required: Successful completion of Accredited Surgical First Assistant (RNFA, CFA, or CSA) program    
 
Experience:
Required:  Two (2) years OR experience as Surgical Tech or RN
Preferred:  One (1) year First Assistant experience
 
Skills:
Ability to perform all surgical skills required to assist Surgeon with procedures.   
Cardiac Assist Skills: CABAG, on and off pump, Valve replacement with and without CABAG, Endo-vein retrieval, Complex endo-vascular procedures needed. TAVR experience a plus.
                                  
Licenses/Certifications: 
Required: For CSA or CFA, SA-C First Assist certification and BLS (American Heart Association)
Required: For RNFA unrestricted Arizona RN license, First Assist certification and BLS (American Heart Association)
 
* For credentialing via Medical Staff Services- Must be able to provide documentation of 100 cases worked as a first assistant in the past 2 years
*Must maintain competency through continuing education as required by the certifying agency
